The start of the Rio de Janeiro Marathon offers a spectacular beginning at Praia da Reserva, a protected natural environment where runners start their challenge accompanied by the Atlantic breeze.

The course follows the oceanfront, crossing the modern Barra da Tijuca area and passing through the emblematic Joatinga Tunnel to connect with the famous South Zone. Participants enjoy the privilege of running along the coastal avenues of Leblon and Ipanema until reaching the legendary Copacabana Beach. The finish line is located at the impressive Aterro do Flamengo, an expansive park offering one of the world’s most beautiful panoramas, with the silhouette of Sugarloaf Mountain guarding the runners’ arrival.

The official currency in Brasil is the Brazilian Real R$, so if you are traveling from a country with a different currency, don’t worry as we have the perfect solution for you.

We can show you the easiest way to exchange the exact currency amount you need so that you don’t have to exchange large amounts to be able to travel or pay extortionate fees.

We also offer another option to use local ATMs without fees and pay in stores with the local currency. You can then exchange any remaining amount that you haven’t used back into your local currency so that you don’t have to spend it all before going back home.

Single payment: pay the total amount when the booking is confirmed.

Two installments: pay in 2 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: remaining 75% 45 days after your booking is confirmed.

Three installments: pay in 3 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: 50% 30 days after your booking is confirmed.
Last installment: remaining 25% 60 days after your booking is confirmed.

Four installments: pay in 4 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: 30% 30 days after your booking is confirmed.
Third installment: 30% 60 days after your booking is confirmed.
Last installment: remaining 15% 90 days after your booking is confirmed.

* For bookings made less than 90/60/30 days before the date of the event, payment in installments may be subject to different terms or not be available.

Cancellations can be made in writing subject to the following conditions:

Registration

Personal, non-transferable and NON-REFUNDABLE, due to the rules of the event organizers. (180€ – 42K | 175€ – 21K | 70€ – 10K | 65€ – 5K | 350€ – 21+42K)

Hotel

Until January 1st: the amounts paid shall be refunded without penalty except for a handling fee of 200€ per person.
From January 2nd: cancellation shall incur a 25% penalty.
From February 2nd: cancellation shall incur a 50% penalty.
From March 2nd: cancellation shall incur a 75% penalty.
From April 2nd: cancellation shall incur a penalty of up to 100% depending on the date of the request and our suppliers’ policy.

Flights

Airline tickets shall be reimbursed according to the booking conditions established by the airline.

At Travelmarathon, we understand that many runners prefer to arrange their flights independently for various reasons. That’s why we offer complete flexibility: if you decide to book your flights on your own, there will be no issue. However, if you’d like assistance, we’re more than happy to help you arrange them and include them in your travel package according to your preferences.

If you prefer to add flights to your package, all we need is your departure city and preferred time frame, and we’ll find the best option suited to your needs.

There are two main airports for traveling to Rio de Janeiro: Galeão International Airport (GIG), which handles most international and long-distance flights, and Santos Dumont Airport (SDU), which is more centrally located and focused on domestic and regional flights.

To get to the South Zone (Zona Sul) from either airport, there are several transportation options available, including taxis, ride-hailing apps, and buses. The estimated travel time is approximately one hour under normal traffic conditions.
