The exclusivity of running around the island of Venice

The Wizz Air Venice Marathon is an event with a long tradition since it has been held since 1986 and has a recognized quality as evidenced by the World Athletics Label. An event where sport, culture and tourism come together to give all the best to all runners of any distance, because in addition to the marathon there is also a half marathon and a 10K.

Due to the characteristics of the city, the Venice Marathon is limited to around 8,000 runners, which makes it a non-mass event to ensure good organization of the race and perfect treatment for the runner without causing inconvenience to the city.

The marathon course begins with the Queen of Venetian Villas, Villa Pisani, which exceptionally opens the doors of her park to receive the marathon runners before the start.

The first part of the course, along the banks of the Brenta River, takes place through a landscape rich in history, art and culture, characterized by many ancient Venetian villas overlooking the river.

The race then passes through the center of the towns of Marghera and Mestre, to then meander for 2 km inside the San Giuliano Park, where the 10K begins, and reach Venice over the Ponte della Libertà, a flat and straight bridge of almost 4 km.

The route continues entering the renovated port area and reaches the historic center of Venice where the most special and unforgettable part of the race is lived. You run alongside the Canale della Giudecca to Punta della Dogana, where a pontoon bridge built specifically for the race allows you to cross the Grand Canal.

Passing through Piazza San Marco (high tide permitting…), near the Campanile and the Doge’s Palace, the route reaches the finish line located on Riva Sette Martiri.

The official currency in Italy is the Euro €, so if you are traveling from a country with a different currency, don’t worry as we have the perfect solution for you.

We can show you the easiest way to exchange the exact currency amount you need so that you don’t have to exchange large amounts to be able to travel or pay extortionate fees.

We also offer another option to use local ATMs without fees and pay in stores with the local currency. You can then exchange any remaining amount that you haven’t used back into your local currency so that you don’t have to spend it all before going back home.

The organization of the event require the runners who want to run the event to present a medical certificate signed and stamped by a official doctor and which must be dated a maximum of 1 year before the race. This document will be provided to you once the reservation is confirmed.
The event is multi-distance, which means that in addition to the marathon there is a half marathon that starts at 09:00, and a 10K that starts at 08:30. Always before the marathon.

PAYMENT METHODS

Single payment: pay the total amount when the booking is confirmed.

Two installments: pay in 2 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: remaining 75% 45 days after your booking is confirmed.

Three installments: pay in 3 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: 50% 30 days after your booking is confirmed.
Last installment: remaining 25% 60 days after your booking is confirmed.

Four installments: pay in 4 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: 30% 30 days after your booking is confirmed.
Third installment: 30% 60 days after your booking is confirmed.
Last installment: remaining 15% 90 days after your booking is confirmed.

* For bookings made less than 90/60/30 days before the date of the event, payment in installments may be subject to different terms or not be available.

** The travel agency reserves the right to cancel the booked trip in the event of non-compliance with the established payment policy.

Cancellations can be made in writing subject to the following conditions:

Registration

Personal, non-transferable and NON-REFUNDABLE, due to the rules of the event organizers.

Hotel

Until May 31st: the amounts paid shall be refunded without penalty except for a handling fee of 50€ per person.
From June 1st: cancellation shall incur a 25% penalty.
From July 1st: cancellation shall incur a 50% penalty.
From August 1st: cancellation shall incur a 75% penalty.
From September 1st: cancellation shall incur a penalty of up to 100% depending on the date of the request and our suppliers’ policy.

Flights

Airline tickets shall be reimbursed according to the booking conditions established by the airline.

At Travelmarathon we know that many of the runners prefer to book their flights on their own, whatever the reason, so we won’t give you any problems if you decide to book the flights on your own, although we can always help you manage them according to your needs and include them in the package.

If you want to include them in the final package, you just have to tell us the city from where you would like to travel and the time of day, and we will find the best option for your needs.

The airport to travel to Venice is Marco Polo Airport (VCE) located about 13km from the city center and on the mainland of the city obviously. It is one of the most important airports in Italy and has good access to public transport, train or direct bus, and a taxi rank to get to the city

In addition, Venice can also be reached from the other two airports located in Veneto, such as Verona – Villafranca Airport (VRN), located about 120km east of Venice but connected by train; and Sant’Angelo Treviso Airport (TSF), located about 40km north of Venice and also well connected by bus or train to Venice.

The Campanile Venice Mestre offers 3-star accommodation in Mestre, 5.1 km from Mestre Ospedale Train Station, Campanile Venice Mestre provides 3-star accommodations in the Stazione Mestre district of Mestre. With a bar, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The property is non-smoking throughout and is located a 16-minute walk from Museum M9.
