Do it for the GLORY

The Cardiff Half Marathon has become one of the biggest and most exciting races in the United Kingdom. It is a highly recommended race for its flat course as well as the tourist attractions that it covers. On top of that, there is lots of encouragement from the citizens that go out onto the streets and cheer on the runners. This is also one of the most successful fundraising events for many charitable organizations, something that’s very common and praiseworthy of English events.

The event has grown significantly since its establishment in 2003 when 1.500 runners participated. Nowadays, it attracts over 20.000 runners, including male and female elite runners as well as wheelchair runners every year. Annually hosts the Gales Half Marathon Championships. It also hosted the Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships in 2018 along with the World Half Marathon Championships in 2016.

The course of this half marathon is very fast and it has remained very similar for years with only a few small changes. Not creating a new race course for the World Half Marathon Championships has been proof of that. It’s predominantly fast and flat, which is perfect for elite runners or any runner.

The race starts outside the Cardiff Castle and the runners, with a spectacular fire flames, then head down past the Principality and Cardiff City Stadiums on the way to Penarth. They take in the glorious Penarth Marina before crossing the barrage and heading to Cardiff Bay. Runners run right through the heart of the bay taking in the Norwegian Church and the Wales Millennium Centre. The course then heads towards the north of the city and runners will complete a loop of the beautiful Roath Park Lake before the grandstand finishes in the heart of the city at the Civic Centre.

The Lisbon Half Marathon is part of the SuperHalfs circuit together with the Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Valencia half marathons. All these events were chosen, among other details, for being a Gold Label Road Race by the World Athletics, and for being events where world distance records have been broken or for hosting the World Half Marathon Championship.

The SuperHalfs circuit is a great way to travel to these excellent races and beautiful cities. And completing the course is rewarded by both the organizers and us.

When you complete the circuit, the organization will give you the SuperMedal, but if you also travel with us to all these events to complete the circuit, we will give you a special gift so you can celebrate your achievement and enjoy like a great SuperFinisher.
