The Chicago Marathon is renowned for its fast, flat course that winds through some of the most iconic landmarks of one of the world’s most remarkable cities. Starting and finishing in the picturesque Grant Park, this event provides runners with stunning views of Chicago and a chance to explore its vibrant neighborhoods.

Designed for personal bests and record-breaking performances, this marathon attracts elite athletes and amateur runners alike. The circular course takes participants through 29 iconic neighborhoods, beginning in the Loop just north of Grant Park, heading to Sheridan Road in the north, then west along Damen Avenue, and finally south to 35th Street before returning to Grant Park.

This event offers more than just a race; it’s an experience that blends athletic challenge with the rich culture and architectural beauty of Chicago, making it a must for any dedicated runner.

The Chicago Marathon is part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, alongside the Tokyo, London, Boston, Sydney, Berlin, and New York Marathons. Together with the Boston and New York Marathons, it is one of the circuit’s three events held in the United States.

The Abbott World Marathon Majors is a prestigious series for marathon runners, launched in 2006 to promote the sport and inspire greater participation among athletes. Runners who complete the original circuit earn the Six Star Finisher Medal as a mark of distinction. With the addition of new events, the circuit will soon introduce the Nine Star Medal, offering even greater recognition for completing the expanded series.
