The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is what its name says, a festival dedicated to running. A weekend where runners of all distances can enjoy the great hobby of running. The Edinburgh Marathon offers runners a unique experience, combining the thrill of running a marathon with the historical and natural beauty of the city.

It is the most popular running event in Scotland and since it began to be held in 2003, it has continued to grow in popularity and prestige, in fact it is second only to the London Marathon in the United Kingdom.

The event is open to marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 10k and 5k runners.

From the departure point on historic Potterrow Street, you will immerse yourself in a journey from the impressive Palace of Holyroodhouse to the cobblestone alleys of the Royal Mile, passing the imposing Edinburgh Castle. Along the way, you’ll explore the charm of the Botanic Gardens and marvel at the panoramic view from Calton Hill. As you progress, you’ll cross the River Water of Leith and venture through the bohemian neighborhood of Leith, before hitting the home stretch to the finish line at Holyrood Park.

The official currency in Scotland is the Pound Sterling £, so if you are traveling from a country with a different currency, don’t worry as we have the perfect solution for you.

We can show you the easiest way to exchange the exact currency amount you need so that you don’t have to exchange large amounts to be able to travel or pay extortionate fees.

We also offer another option to use local ATMs without fees and pay in stores with the local currency. You can then exchange any remaining amount that you haven’t used back into your local currency so that you don’t have to spend it all before going back home.

On Saturday, the 5K and 10K races will be held in addition to the children’s races.
On Sunday, the half marathon and marathon races will be held.
To return from the finish line of the marathon and half marathon it is advisable to use the official transport of the organization.

PAYMENT METHODS

Single payment: pay the total amount when the booking is confirmed.

Two installments: pay in 2 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: remaining 75% 45 days after your booking is confirmed.

Three installments: pay in 3 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: 50% 30 days after your booking is confirmed.
Last installment: remaining 25% 60 days after your booking is confirmed.

Four installments: pay in 4 interest-free installments.

First installment: 25% when your booking is confirmed.
Second installment: 30% 30 days after your booking is confirmed.
Third installment: 30% 60 days after your booking is confirmed.
Last installment: remaining 15% 90 days after your booking is confirmed.

* For bookings made less than 90/60/30 days before the date of the event, payment in installments may be subject to different terms or not be available.

**The travel agency reserves the right to cancel the booked trip in the event of non-compliance with the established payment policy.

Cancellations can be made in writing subject to the following conditions:

Registration

Personal, non-transferable and NON-REFUNDABLE, due to the rules of the event organizers.

Hotel

Until October 31st: the amounts paid shall be refunded without penalty except for a handling fee of 200€ per person.
From November 1st: cancellation shall incur a 25% penalty.
From December 1st: cancellation shall incur a 50% penalty.
From January 1st: cancellation shall incur a 75% penalty.
From February 1st: cancellation shall incur a penalty of up to 100% depending on the date of the request and our suppliers’ policy.

Flights

Airline tickets shall be reimbursed according to the booking conditions established by the airline.

At Travelmarathon, we understand that many runners prefer to arrange their flights independently for various reasons. That’s why we offer complete flexibility: if you decide to book your flights on your own, there will be no issue. However, if you’d like assistance, we’re more than happy to help you arrange them and include them in your travel package according to your preferences.

If you prefer to add flights to your package, all we need is your departure city and preferred time frame, and we’ll find the best option suited to your needs.

The main airport for travel to Edinburgh is Edinburgh International Airport (EDI), which is the most important and busiest airport in Scotland although its size could be described as medium.

Located about 13km from the city, the connection with the city is good because it is connected to the city by public transport and cabs.

Travelmarathon is not responsible for any changes to flight schedules announced by the airlines, as they may modify the information even after tickets are issued.
