The Run Rome The Marathon is one of the most iconic events on the international calendar, proudly holding the prestigious World Athletics Elite Label. This marathon takes place in Rome, one of the most fascinating cities in the world, where every step connects you with centuries of history, art, and culture.
More than just a race, it’s a unique experience that blends a passion for running with the timeless charm of the Eternal City. Held in the spring, the event benefits from mild and pleasant temperatures, ideal conditions for running and soaking in the Roman atmosphere.
Year after year, the number of participants continues to grow, attracting both elite athletes and amateur runners who are looking to experience an international marathon in a truly unforgettable setting. With its excellent organization, vibrant atmosphere, and a route that runs past some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, the Rome Marathon has firmly established itself as one of the must-run races in the European running scene.
The Rome Marathon route is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking in the world. The race begins in front of the majestic Colosseum, the eternal symbol of the city with over 2,000 years of history. From this unique starting point, the course becomes a visual journey through some of the most iconic landmarks of the Italian capital.
Over the 42 kilometers, runners pass by stunning sites such as St. Peter’s Basilica, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, and many of the cobbled streets of ancient Rome. It’s a true open-air museum that offers an unforgettable experience for both runners and spectators.
Although Rome is famously built on seven hills, the course is relatively flat, despite some cumulative elevation gain. The cobblestone sections can present a slight technical challenge, adding a distinctive character to the event, without taking away from the beauty or excitement of every kilometer.
Running the Rome Marathon is not just about crossing the finish line, it’s about living history with every step. And once you’ve finished, Rome will still be waiting for you: enjoy its cuisine, its art, and the unique atmosphere that makes this city a must-visit for any runner.

At Travelmarathon, we understand that many runners prefer to arrange their flights independently for various reasons. That’s why we offer complete flexibility: if you decide to book your flights on your own, there will be no issue. However, if you’d like assistance, we’re more than happy to help you arrange them and include them in your travel package according to your preferences.
If you prefer to add flights to your package, all we need is your departure city and preferred time frame, and we’ll find the best option suited to your needs.
Rome has two main airports:
Both airports are well connected to the city center by public transportation, trains, direct buses, and taxis, making it easy to reach your destination.
Travelmarathon is not responsible for any changes to flight schedules announced by the airlines, as they may modify the information even after tickets are issued.
