Only a marathon like the London Marathon can bring together such a high quality list of elite athletes, both men and women, because the event, to be held on April 27, will bring together world records, Olympic champions and top international athletes.
In the women’s category, the presence of the current world record holder, Ruth Chepngetich (2:09:56) and the Olympic champion in Paris 2024, Sifan Hassan (2:13:44), stands out. The third in contention will be Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa (2:11:53), the second fastest time in history and silver in Paris. The fight between the two is assured. As well as the fight to beat the time that Chepngetich achieved last year in Chicago. They are the three best marathon runners in history and will be seen running together in the London Marathon.
We will also see Eliud Kipchoge (2:01:09), who knows what it’s like to win in the British capital. He will be accompanied by Olympic champion Tamirat Tola (2:03:39), Kenyan Sebastian Sawe (2:02:05) and Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo, who will be making his debut over the distance. Among the best times were also Timothy Kiplagat (2:02:55) and Alex Mutiso (2:03:11).
So, the fun is guaranteed. And, with almost 3 months to go until the race, the bets are on. Will there be a new world record? Who will become the new kings of the marathon in London?
