Next Sunday, September 29th, one of the most awaited Majors will be held. Because of its course, its precedents, its history, the BMW Berlin-Marathon has become a reference in this distance. It was in Berlin that Eliud Kipchoge broke the men’s world record several times and Tigist Asseja did the same in the women’s category. In addition, this year they are celebrating their 50th anniversary, which makes this edition one of the most eagerly awaited.
As far as the elite is concerned, the great absentee will be Kipchoge. The five-time winner of the race (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023) and two-time world record holder (2018 and 2022) will not be at the starting line of the German capital’s marathon this year. Other athletes such as Kibiwott Kandie, Tadese Takele, Ronald Korir and Cy brian Kotut will be there. In the women’s category, on the other hand, the athletes with the best marks are Tigist Ketema, Rosemary Wanjiru and Genzebe Dibaba.
However, the large and wide avenues of Berlin will be occupied by more than 58,000 runners who will participate in the race with the sole objective of crossing the Brandenburg Gate and celebrate that they have conquered a Major.
If your dream is also to conquer Berlin, see you in 2025.
