One month to go until one of the most awaited moments for all marathon runners. It only happens every four years (or three, as on this occasion) and it is none other than the Olympic Marathon.
On August 10 at eight o’clock in the morning, the men’s Olympic Marathon will start (the women’s will be a day later). The best athletes will meet at
Since 1896, the first time the marathon was part of the Olympic disciplines, there have been many athletes who have become Olympic champions. Although it is worth mentioning the double consecutive triumph of Eliud Kipchoge (Rio de Janeiro, 2016 and Tokyo, 2021). The Kenyan athlete will try again in Paris, although the competition is stronger. In fact, we will see a duel between two greats such as Kipchoge and Kenenisa Bekele. Although there will also be other athletes who have already demonstrated their potential in the 42K as Sisay Lemma, Benson Kipruto or Timothy Kiplagat.
In the case of the girls, who will run a day later, the great favorites are the Dutch Sifan Hassan, the Ethiopian Tigst Assefa and Amane Berisso, and the Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich.
As for the Spaniards, we will be represented by Tariku Novales, Ibrahim Chakir and Yago Rojo, in the case of the boys; and Majida Maayouf, Ester Navarrete and Meritxell Soler, in the case of the girls.
Marathon Pour Tous
In addition to the Olympic edition, there will also be an edition for runners like you and me, the ‘Marathon Pour Tous’, where 20024 runners from all over the world will be able to compete in the Olympic Marathon like real athletes. To get a place in this special race they have had to overcome challenges, races, tests and challenges, such as running against Eliud Kipchoge.
